Medication update

Today was my first full day of taking the medications. I took some of the medications on Saturday but accidentally messed up when I was suppose to be taking them. I am feeling super exhausted today and slept 12 hours last night. I'm not sure if it's just because I was really tired or because of my new medication. I know it will take a while to get use to my meds so hopefully if this is my meds doing this, it wears off pretty quick. On the brightside, I had a fantastic night of sleep. I didn't wake up once! That is the first time in 2 weeks I haven't been tossing and turning during the night.

I also am starting to feel a lot better. I know going to therapy helped and now the medication is helping, but I can definitely sense a change and other people have noticed as well. I don't have a therapy appointment this week, but starting next week I will go to therapy once a week for a while again until things simmer down.

I had a little breakdown last week when I got my abilify. I was looking it up on webmd and although I know most medications have multiple uses, it scared the crap out of me to see the main uses is for schizophrenia and multiple mood disorders. I just had to keep reminding myself that drugs have different uses. My clonzapam is mainly used for people who have seizures, but I use it for anxiety.

The other medication that I am starting to take is 1mg or Prazosin at night for my PTSD nightmares. Here is part of what is listed on the webmd for the use of this drug in PTSD:

If you have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), your body may release too much adrenaline. Adrenaline is a hormone that can make you feel stressed and havenightmares.
Prazosin blocks some of the effects of adrenaline released in your body. This may help reduce the nightmares and sleep problems you have with PTSD.

Why It Is Used

By keeping you from having nightmares, prazosin may help you get better sleep. With better sleep, you can feel healthier and more alert. This may help lower your stress and help you feel more in control of your life.

And then here is the main information for my Abilify that half had me freaked out
Aripiprazole is used to treat certain mental/mood disorders (such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and irritability associated with autistic disorder). It may also be used in combination with other medication to treat depression. Aripiprazole is known as an antipsychotic drug (atypical type). It works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural chemicals in the brain (neurotransmitters).
This medication can decrease hallucinations and improve your concentration. It helps you to think more clearly and positively about yourself, feel less nervous, and take a more active part in everyday life. Aripiprazole can treat severe mood swings and decrease how often mood swings occur.

I hope this gives a better understanding of my new medications, I am looking forward to feeling all the way better and not suffering from PTSD nightmares and out of body experiences.
