Not being medicated vs medicated

I know that there is a lot of debate between being medicated when you have a mental illness and not being medicated. I know it's a personal opinion but I think it is clear where I stand. I am not trying to convince people to medicate themselves when they have a mental illness, I'm just stating my opinion.

Healing from a mental illness is like a bandaid
If you take medication, it helps take away your symptoms, but the wound is still there. Therapy, or any sort of other type of therapy.

I am diagnosed with unintentional PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder, and major depressive disorder. I do not want to live day by day living with the pain, the restlessness, the constant pain, the depression, living in my bedroom 24/7, not wanting to be with other people. It is endless.

I choose medication because I am okay with it. However, I know medication will not cure my mental illness, it only helps me through it. I hope that some day I will no longer be on any medication, but for the time being, this is what I think is best for me.

I am seen by a psychiatrist, a therapist, and my regular medical doctor. I am not overly medicated or anything like that. I am closly watched by many professionals.

I understand people who choose not to be medicated. I know that there are also natural remidities or vitamins that help with some mental illness symptoms. I understand that they don't want to be overly medicated, I completley understand all of their reasoning.

I think it is up to your own person to decide whether you would like to take medication for what you have. You shouldn't be judged for your choice. You have your own right to your opinion.

You know what is best for you.
